CHECK OUT THE NOMINEES AND THEIR PICTURES FOR THE NOVEMBER ELECTION.  THERE IS ALSO A     COPY OF THE BALLOT ----   ON THE OFFICERS PAGE.

1 June 2010

It is Memorial Day and I heard that awful but beautiful sound of Taps and my eyes were blurred by tears.  We have been through that and our heads are held high as we get on with living, as our husbands expected of us.
This Journal has the names of the ladies who are on the ballot.  Thank you ladies for stepping up to keep our Society going.  You will also see the Registration Form for the Convention in October at Lawton, Oklahoma.  I sure hope we have a good turnout for this Convention.  At the Banquet on Saturday we will have the Installation of the new Officers.  It is a solemn time but always it is fun.  Please come to the Convention and be part of the working of our Society.
I have to thank Cathy McGraw, and her committee, for taking over the job of talking to the ladies and getting their okay to be put on the ballot.
Ladies I have received some e-mails asking for my password because my e-mail account would be closed.  DO NOT ANSWER THOSE QUESTIONS.  Your password is known to your server otherwise how could you get your e-mail!!  I also had a call from Canada about my bank account.  I hung up on them because I know that my bank is not in Canada.  Please be careful.  Do not give out any information from someone you don't know.  We have to be aware of people who are not our friends.

20 March 2010

It is time for National Elections for the Society of Military Widows. I hope everyone will think about running for one of the offices, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, or Regional Vice-President. It is not that hard of a job and you meet some very nice people. If you are one of those officers you will be compensated for your necessary attendance at the Conventions. We also have quarterly Teleconferences on the 4th Saturday of those months. They usually last between 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour depending how chatty we get or the amount of things we have to cover that month. Since we don't have phone-a-vision you don't have to dress up!
If we don't get our members to run for office we will lose SMW. Please stand up for our Society and get involved in the workings of the SMW. We have to keep working not only for all of us now, but for all those coming behind us. We can't let them down.

Contact Cathy McGraw at Chapter #13 in California if you are interested in helping us out.
