NAUS has recently completely revised and updated their web site. Please visit our partner and take a look at all the changes and improvements you will find. Several new links have been added to the NAUS Links menu on the left and links have been updated to reach the correct page on the new site.

In 1984 the Society of Military Widows affiliated with NAUS to make a stronger organization, working to protect the hard-earned benefits and entitlements of military widows. SMW works with NAUS lobbyists on legislation affecting widows' interests. We have played a major role in obtaining legislation for military widows that:

*Saved full COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment) for disabled retired military members and surviving spouses in 1994.

*Halted plan to deny COLAs for under age 62 retirees in 1994.

*Helped defeat efforts to increase the commissary surcharge for retirees.

*Modified the Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) to provide an SBP benefit for forgotten widows.

*Helped eliminate the SBP/Social Security Offset to be completed in 2008.

UNIFORMED SERVICES JOURNAL
NAUS publishes the USJ bimonthly to keep you informed and up-to-date on the latest SMW news and on issues that are of concern to you. Now considered the best source for information on legislation of concern to America's military/veteran community. The USJ is included in your National dues as a member of SMW.
